World First at Woolley Park

Congratulations to Woolley Park Golf Club in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, who have become the first golf club in the world to receive delivery of the new GreenTek Thatch-Away Supa-System Micro Groomer cassette.

Launched at BTME earlier this year, the all-new Micro Groomer is the very latest interchangeable cassette for the Thatch-Away Supa-System, designed to create leaner, truer and faster surfaces than ever before.

It has raised the bar once more on how sward is refined - the key to this innovation is the staggering number of blade tips that groom the surfaces - 2310 in total - creating an unrivalled 39,400 surgically precise micro-cuts per square metre.

These blades work in the upper leaf area of the surface to keep greens fast and lean, creating the finest possible texture.

This makes the Micro Groomer vastly more effective than conventional groomers mounted on cutting units, helping greenkeepers save time and effort to maintain quality greens.

After a successful demonstration of the product by the GreenTek team at Woolley Park, Head Greenkeeper John Rowbottom (pictured) was delighted to add to his existing range of Thatch-Away cassettes.

‘We’re seriously impressed with the new Micro Groomer and already we’re seeing a massive difference in the quality of our playing surfaces, which are now much smoother and truer.

‘With the old verticutters we would have to do a double pass, but now we can cut at 0.5mm in a single pass, which means we’re only spending five minutes on each green as opposed to 10 – the job gets done in half the time!

‘It’s a really efficient, low-disruption tool – I love the sheer volume of teeth that it has and the precision micro-cuts that I can now achieve.’
